Official Confirmation: Grand Theft Auto VI Release Date Set for 2025

Fans of Rockstar Games’ (GTA 6 trailer) Grand Theft Auto VI series, who have been waiting anxiously for official details regarding the upcoming installment in the series, may breathe a sigh of relief.

On Monday night, the developer finally confirmed the long-rumored release date of 2025 in a 90-second clip. Vice City, a depraved take on Miami that the series visited in 2002, was back, as shown by the sun-kissed beaches and shiny condos.

For the first time in the series, the game seems to include a female protagonist in a number of sequences involving a lady called Lucia. These scenes include her peering into a prison yard while wearing an orange “inmate” blouse and her later storming into a shop while armed and wearing a bandanna mask.

The game will “push the limits of what’s possible in a highly immersive, story-driven open-world experience,” according to Rockstar president Sam Houser. Requests for an interview on the series were turned down by Rockstar.

Leaks have been a problem for Take-Two Interactive’s Rockstar Games. In 2022, hackers managed to get their hands on some exclusive video from Grand Theft Auto V. The release of photos and videos of gameplay stunned the gaming industry. The developer later acknowledged that the material was authentic and had been compromised via a “network intrusion.”

At the time, Rockstar Games announced on what was then Twitter that they had suffered a network intrusion. The company claimed that an unauthorized third party had illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from their systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.
