In the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics qualifiers, which were held in Muscat, Oman, Germany beat Pakistan 4-0 to show just how talented they were. Pakistan now have a chance to win the semifinal match for third place. If they do, they are certain to advance to the Olympics in Paris. The Men in Green will play either the United Kingdom or New Zealand in the play-off. The semifinal game for New Zealand is yet to be played.
The German team got an invitation to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympics because of the way they played together and how adept they were. Germany got off to an excellent start when Tom Grambusch scored from a penalty corner in the 11th minute. Within the 17th minute, Niklas Wellen got another assist with a field goal, making the score 2-0 at the break.
In the final quarter of the year, Germany kept its promise by continuing to be the best. In the 40th minute, Niklas Wellen scored from a penalty corner for the second time, increasing their lead. In the 39th minute, Justin Weigand made a field goal, giving the team a 4-0 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, there were no goals.
Pakistan made it to the semi-finals by drawing Malaysia 3–3. It was a big win for them because it gave them the points they needed to move on. They beat China 2-0 in the opening match, but then they lost to Great Britain 6-1. Pakistan placed second in Pool A, behind England and Wales in the pool games. This sets them up to try to finish on the top step in the play-offs. So exciting that both Germany and New Zealand made it to the semi-finals from Group B. Pakistan’s next game is even more important now.
